Slow Blues @64 BPM, written by Rick Hagler                                               Mood/anxiety, discouragement, bewilderment, Disillusionment, Pain. Great blues guitar work, slide guitar, and Saxophone by Tommy Yates, vocal harmony back up.

ABOUT:         This retched soul is still in love and is desperate to change, to do whatever he has to, to keep his woman from leaving. He won't beg her stay, but pleads with her to tell him why she is leaving. He makes grandiose promises, tells her he would do anything to keep her from walking out.

Lightning in a jar is a metaphor. Our character recalls a gift given to him by an old man that he admired, when he was just a boy. The old man claimed that he had caught lightning in a jar and wanted the boy to have it, as a gift. It would bring good things into his life. He held it close for years until it lay shattered and broken on the floor.   The realization, he had been duped.

"I thought I had found true love I was just dreaming, finding true love is hard, I can't stop you from leaving, you can not catch lightning in a jar".

Chorus

lyrics ;

I C0ULD HAVE BEGGED HER NOT TO GO, BUT,
IT’S TOO LATE FOR BEGGING WHEN SHE’S STANDING AT THE DOOR
SOMEBODY TOLD YOU LOVE WOULD BE EASY, PROBABLY TOLD YOU LIFE WAS FAIR
AND I KNOW YOU’RE DEAD SET ON LEAVING
SO I WON’T STOP YOU, I CAN’T STOP YOU ANYHOW
IF I’VE DONE SOMETHING TO HURT YOU
IF YOU WOULD STAY JUST FOR A WHILE
THEN I COULD BEG FOR YOUR FORGIVENESS
EARN REDEMTION BY WALKING A THOUSAND MILES
CHORUS
I WOULD CLIMB THE HIGHEST MOUNTAIN SHOUT YOUR LOVE ALL DAY LONG
BUT YOU CAN’T TELL ME WHY YOU ARE LEAVING, YOU CAN’T TELL ME WHAT I HAVE DONE WRONG
SAX RIDE
VERSE
WHEN I WAS A KID I KNEW THIS OLD MAN ,CLAIMED H’ED CAUGHT LIGHTNING IN A JAR
I HELD IT CLOSE FOR A LONG, LONG TIME UNTIL IT LAID BROKEN, SHATTERRED ON THE FLOOR
I THOUGHT I HAD FOUND TRUE LOVE BUT I WAS DREAMING, FINDING TRUE LOVE IS HARD!
I CAN NOT STOP YOU FROM LEAVING, YOU CAN NOT CATCH LIGHTNING IN A JAR
CHORUS
